Zavation 3D Printing Case Study
MPI’S QUICK RESPONSE BENEFITS ZAVATION
When developing new medical devices, Zavation often reviews these designs with surgeons, and it is critical to have prototype parts during these reviews. Zavation found itself with just a 24 hour turnaround period to have a small surgical implant model produced for one of these design reviews.
Engineering Manager at Zavation, Lawrence Walker, turned to MPI to take advantage of the institute’s timely 3D printing services that Zavation had previously experienced with other projects. He emailed its 3D design file of the surgical implant to MPI. A quote was promptly generated and approved, and MPI received the go ahead for the print job.
The spinal implant prototype was printed and delivered to Zavation the next day! Zavation was able to evaluate its design and quickly introduce the product to market, resulting in a market and equipment impact of $107,500. MPI’s service and partnership with Zavation is critical to ensuring that the company is able to rapidly respond to its customers’ needs.
“The incredible response times and quality models from MPI allowed us to get our concepts in hand for design review, and more critically, to share those designs with customers. This kind of responsiveness has helped us build critical relationships with customers." Lawrence Walker, Engineering Manager
